Mitt Romney unplugged…from #47percent of Americans

Often times, politicians say they were misquoted, taken “out of context” or my favorite is the “gotcha questions” from the “lame stream media.” The Republican Party used that one countless times during the 2008 campaign to defend Sarah Palin’s inability to answer questions. The clip below shows why she needed some bailouts after interviews…

When a person is running for the highest office in the United States of America or a position one breath away from that office, they should expect the unexpected, be able to answer questions that are concerning voters across the U.S. and yes, be prepared to make an “off the cuff” comment that doesn’t offend nearly half of all Americans.

Clearly, our candidates should be able to represent all of the Americans they are campaigning to lead, whether they are speaking to a crowd of potential voters or among their own supporting donors behind locked doors.

(View Parts 1 and 2 of the recently leaked videos via MotherJones.com and see the full transcript here.)

Who is Mitt Romney when he believes he is only speaking to his supporters? How does he answer the serious questions concerning foreign policy, U.S. Jobs and the Israel/Palestinian Peace Process and more?

How true are his statements on the size of of our Navy and Air Force and claims of the Fed’s purchase of our Nation’s debt?

About his reference to the #47percent of Americanswho are with him [re: President Obama], who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it. That that’s an entitlement.”

He then goes on to say more (although his speaking and grammar could use some work).

These are people who pay no income tax. Forty-seven percent of Americans pay no income tax. So our message of low taxes doesn’t connect. And he’ll [still talking about Obama here] be out there talking about tax cuts for the rich. I mean that’s what they sell every four years.”

–>” And so my job is not to worry about those people—I’ll never convince them that they should take personal responsibility and care for their lives. What I have to do is convince the 5 to 10 percent in the center that are independents that are thoughtful, that look at voting one way or the other depending upon in some cases emotion, whether they like the guy or not, what it looks like. I mean, when you ask those people…we do all these polls—I find it amazing—we poll all these people, see where you stand on the polls, but 45 percent of the people will go with a Republican…”

Something about that #47percent he didn’t mention… He didn’t talk about the  “lucky-duckies” making over $233,000 and not paying federal income tax due to capital gains, municipal bonds and the ability to exploit the tax laws.)

You know what the Republican Party or Mitt Romney hasn’t brought up? What about all the automatic votes from those simply voting for Romney to get President Obama out of office? On the ballot, come election day, that box for the Republican Candidate could say Bugs Bunny, Honey Boo Boo, or “Not Obama” and it wouldn’t matter. Especially right now, Romney should be thankful for those voters who really aren’t even paying attention to what he is saying. Some people don’t realize he just included them in his #47percent put down of irresponsible mooching Americans statements.

For example, maybe the veteran that goes to the VA hospital and/or collecting disability payments, they are part of the #47percent Mitt was talking about. What about the single Mom that has been waiting for this election because she has felt so lead that our country is headed in the wrong direction under our current administration but wait, is she using a Pell Grant to put herself through college for a better career? #47percent!

There are also a great number of senior citizens which have been at these rallies for Romney and all of that Social Security and Medicare? #47percent  That’s right!! They aren’t paying federal income tax on that.  And, anyone collecting SSI for some type of disability whether it be due to a tragic accident, side effect from cancer, blindness, neurologic disorders, mental illness,  or a host of other conditions, Mitt was referring to them as well.

In his view, those are entitlements. He isn’t looking at the people he is speaking to or about. The fact is, he is drawing a line, dividing America into portions and for someone running to lead the United States of America, a very diverse country in many ways, that was not only a large political mistake but morally shows a lack of character when it comes to having the ability to be the leader of this Nation.

At this time though, the Republican party isn’t running on morals, values and what is best for the average American, remember their #1 priority has been to make Obama a one-term president.  They are going to stand behind their nominee no matter how bad he slips up, what he may say or how many times he flip flops. They just hope when election day rolls around, the voter will forget about Romney’s slip ups, not so elegantly said insults and give their vote for the candidate that is not Obama. It may be to his benefit to campaign on a completely different note.

Maybe … #NotObama2012

I just wish the candidates would state what they would do as President for us and our country and quit ripping each other apart. We have enough sadness in the world with drought, cancer, etc. I will be so glad when Nov. 6 is over. I have had to go on a media blackout from all the backstabbing, lying, etc. Love your blog. Love, Ness
